Gratifying Number Of New Houses Completed

,The pleasing feature of the past month had been the number of dwehings completed, some of them having been under way for a long period, said the building inspector, Mr.. H. T. Ti'yard, in a report to last night's meeting of the Levin Borough Council. ''Some of the buirders seem to be making a determined effort to complete their outstanding contracts before starting new ones," he added. During' the month of May 22 dwellings had been completed, advised the inspector. Five dwellings had been commenced and there were 73 ln various stages of construction. Seven permits of an aggregate value of £12,275 had been issued during the month for new dwellings. Permits for alterations and additions numbered • 12 and their total value was £948. Since April 1 last there have been 14 permits of a value of £22,941 for new dwellings, as against 19 of a value of £30,699 in the same period of last year.
