Playford Park Layout Contest Decided

The successful entrant in the Levin Borough Council's competition for competitive designs for the Playford "Park layout was Miss Beth Blenkhorn, of Levin, who has secured the first prize of £10 10s. •The second prize of £5 5s went to Mr. S. J. Thompson. This was announced at a meeting of the Levin Borough Council last night by Cr. W. Telford, chairman of the commitlee set up tc make the recommendations as to the test layout. Dh'and Mrs. S. J. Thompson, who, as donors of the £5 5s prize had been asked to be members of the committee,- had declined in view of 'the fact that Mrs. Thompson was submitting an entry, stated Cr. Telford. There had been six entries. The six designs were on display in the Council Chambers and the ; recommendations of the committee were" confifmed by the council. Payment of the prize money was accordingly authorised. The Mayor, Mr. H. B. Burdekin, said that the council had in mind certain improvements and the whole question would be referred back to the committee for recommendations as to the final layout of the park. Everything included in the final draft would not, of course, be brought into being immediately, but the various amenities would be put into train as the need arose and the finance became availabie. He expressed t the hope, however, that the sports grounds Would be ready for next season.
