Chinese Reds Opening Up Trade Channels
SHANGHAI, June 6. Foreign import and export firms are invited to apply for business licences from the foreign trade control bureau after securing an introduetion froni the foreign affairs- department of the People 's Government. Chinese firms need no introduetion but may apply direct to the bureau. TJnder foreign trade regulations announced today, imports and exports are divided into three categories, freelv tradeable, specially permitted and banned. Specially permitted imports may ofily be handled by State owned eoncerns. These include aireraft, motor cars, radio sets, tobaeeo and cinema equipment. Freely importable goods include eotton, maehinerv, motor boats, eertain medicines, chemicals, erude diesel oil, kerosene, newspapers, periodicals, newsprint and other industrial equipment. Among specially permitted exports are scrap iron, petroleum, eotton yarn, cottoh- pdece good§, pokh and other fuel. The banned elass lists coins, State treasures, riee, wheat, grain and wheat products. The Communists have oceupied Yulin in North Shensi, reports the Peiping radio. The occupation of Yulin followed the acceptance of peace terms by the Nationalist defenders. Yulin is situated south of the Great Wall and is a strategic eentre commanding the pass between the Shansi and Suiyuan
