Slow Scoring In Match With Glamorgan

Co&uriffht)

■ Received Tuesday, ma i a.m. LONDON, June 6. The New Zealanders who were criticised on Saiurday for their slow scoring — 46 hoiirly — agamst Glamorgan on a wicket where the ball kept low, were given an exhibition of batting _ at snails' pace when the champion county made 140 for the loss of four wickets m four hours, or a rate of 35 hourly. The Welshmen were f requently bar'racked by 17,000 people, a record crowd for Cardiff Arms Park, who were hoping to see more life from their own countrymen on Whitmonday Bank Holiday. \ The New Zealanders b.atted for two hours bef ore lunch and torought their total to 312 for the loss oi eight wickets (Smith 72, Mooney 44) , when Hadlee deelared. Whereas Wooller used almost all medium pace bowlers, Hadlee relied chiefL on Burke and Burtt, two spinners, who kept excellent length, and aided by a high standard oi fieldmg made Glamorgan work for- theii runs. Burke had his best speil oi fche tour. The gate on Saturday was £650 and today it was £1100. The wicket was a trifle fastei than on Saturday but the ball stiL kept low so that the batsmen continued to have difticulty m makinb strokes to their own complete satisfaction. 'Every forcmg shot wat made at some risk. Score's * * NEW ZEALAND — lst Inrfings. Sutciiffe, hit wkt., b Wofcller ... 29 Scott, b Hever 40 Hadlee, c Wooller, b Robinson . 27 Wallace, c.
