AUCKLAND, June 3. I The sequel to a raid on' a gambling den at G-rey's Avenue was heard when 1 John Dragovic, aged 34, a labourer, and Rora Nathan, aged 34, appeared before 1 Mr. Luxford, S.M., charged - with breaches of the Gaming Act. Dragovic ' pleaded guilty to a eharge of assisting in condpeting the business of a common gaming house on May 28, and Nathan pleaded 'guilty to a charge of allowing premises occupied by her to be used a common gaming house. j It was stated that Mrs. Nathan had ! 11 children and had foolishly all'owed j her .premises to be used for gaming to supplement her husband 's earnings. I "I would have thought she would have found her 11 children a very muCli better oecupation than running a 'gaming house," said Mr. Luxford. "It is certainly a much safer occupatiou. There is only one tlung that saved you from going to gaol, ' ' he said to the accused Nathan. "That is your children. But don 't think your children will save you again, and don't think you can Tun this sort of thing and jusu pay a £100 line every time you come to Court. These places are a scourge." ; Mr. Luxford hned accused £100. in default two months' imprisonment, anl fined Dr&gavic £10 in default 21 days' imprisonment.
