"May has been much drier but very much coider this , year than last," said Mr. H. Harvey, Snr., when commeming on the rainfaLahd temperature figures 1 for the hionth, Rain fell on 10 days with a total of S.26 inches, as compared with the 9.26 inches which fell over 16 days in May, 1948. The heayies. fall* was on Monday, May 9, when 1.08 inches were recorded. Heavier falls occurred'on two days in May Of last year, 2.25 ffiches being recorded on May 23 and 1.64 inches on May 31. . Ten frosts Were registered during the month, the two heaviest being siix degrees on May 14 and 16. Oniy fiVe slight frosts were fe.t in May, 1348. Eor the first two days of June 27. points. of rain_have fallen.
