Not Going On With Football Pool Scheme

Received Friday, 11 a.m. SYDNEY, June 3. The Chief Secretary, Mr. J. M. Baddeley, said that the Auburn Combined Sports Committee was not proceeding with the scheme / started this week to run a football pool, and that he had, therefore, advised the police not to institute proceedings against 'the committee. The committee previously believed that the scheme was not illegal, because it did =not permit varying stakes and its proceeds would go to the improvement of local sports grounds.
