Exchange Lift Affects Timbers

WELLINGTON, June 2. From June 13 merchants musfc deduct the exchange difference from the cost of certain timbers imported before the return of New Zeaiand curreney to parity with sterling in August of last year. These timbers are specified by the Priee Tribunal in a notice in tonight's Gazette, as Canadian ash, hickory, mahogany, walnut, Oregon spruee, redwood (dry), American oak (red and white), Japanese oak, Australian hardwoods (mixed), larch, hemlock and teak. The deadline date was decided by the Price Tribunal after consultation with the trade organisation concerned. Similar deadline dates have already been announced for certain lines of wines and spirits, electrical appliances, clothing, haberdashery, fancy 'goods, fioor .coverings, kapoc and bedding, and soft furnishiEgs.
