To Discuss Wool Problems Of Common Interest
LONDON, May 31. Sixteen of the chief wool eonsuming aations of the world who are memberp of the International "Wool Textile Organisation, ■ will meet to diseusp matters of common interest in Florence this week. M. Maurice Dubrulle (France) will preside and in addition to wool textile. representatives from all member countries, there will be ob servers from U.S.A. and Uruguay. Australia, South Africa and New Zealand' will be represented through the International Wool Secretariat and by some of the delegates lately attending annual meetings of the International WooPublicity and Researeh Fund in London including Mr. J. Moolman, chairman of the South African Wool Board, and Mr. A. J. McBride, . Australia. A full agpnda will include „.a, paper by the Nev§? Zeal'ander,- • Mr;A F. 8, Arthur, general manager of the United Itingdom-Dominion Wool Disposals Ltd., who will speak on the disposah policy of the joint organisation. Mr. D. G. Priee, secretarv of Internationa' Wool Textile Organisation, will give a report on the Japanese wool textile industry. Mr. Priee was one of the United Kingdoni representatives whi visited Japan some months ago to discuss with the authorities there, the question of Japanese export competi tion in the wool textile markets. Other papers will deal with seientific researeh, the need for a common basis of trade statistics, the state of woo! production in Europe and the importanee of . wool textiles in European eeonomic eooperation. A report will als; be presented on behalf of the International Wool Secretariat, by Mr. Eweu M. Waterman, Australian member. Efforts will be made to establish a eode of fair trading in the description of wool textile products by diseourag ing the use of geographical plaee namep except by those entitled to use them by reason of location.
