Putting Jersey Breed On International Footing
LONDON, May 30. If the Jersey breed societies in various countries where this breed is established, approve the idea, steps are to be taken to establish a world federation to standardise the reeords of the breed and further its development generally. This was decided at the International .Jersey Breed Conference held at St. Heliers on the Island of Jersey and attended by delegates from the United States, Australia, Canada, New ^Zealand, Denmark, Sweden, East Africa, South Africa and France. Mr. Albert Messervy, the well-known Jersey veterinarv surgeon, was appointed president of the new federation pro tem. It is proposed that the new international organisation shall deal with the international standardisation of Jersey merif sehemes, publicity for the breed, the establishment of an international bureau of Jersey reeords and the standardisation of rules and regulations of all Jersey societies. Several delegates, after inspecting cattle on the island, expressed the hope that the authorities controlling the breed in Jersey would improve their recording system. "You niust advance with the times," Mr. George Dawick, the New Zealand delegate, said. ' ' You must test your eows if Kew Zealand is to be interested in bulls from here. "
