Firming In Stock Values At Levin Sale
At the Levin stcck sale yesterday a moderate yarding in all sections caused a slight firming in prices on recent market rates. Good quality fat wethers sol'd to 49s and fat lambs met with a very keen demand. Fat cattle were very lightly yarded and consequently rose in value. Butchers' weight porkers were in smaller supply than usual and sold up to £5 5s. A yarding of ' 300 to 400 fair quality store wether hoggets attracted keen brdding. The following is a range of the prices realise'd: — Sheep: Heavy fat ewes, 32s lOd to 33s 7d; medium do., 29s -10d to 31s 7d; lighter do., 24s 7d to 27s 10d* pnme wethers, 46s lOd to 48s 10d: medium do., 45s lOd to 46s 7d: prime two-tooth wethers, 47s lOd to 47s 7d; prime woolly black faced ambs, 4rs 2d to 43s 4d; mc'uium do. 37s 4d to 39s lOd; prime shorn b.f! lambs, 36s ld to 38s 7d; medium do 33s 4d tp 34s ld. Store sheep: Medium to good woolly ewe - hoggets, 35s ildmedium to good wefiier hoggets 30s 6d to 31s; culls, 22s 6d te 25s 6d! Pigs: Prime porkers, £5 to £5 10s; medium do., £4 3s to £4 13s; light do., £3 Is to £3 16s; prime baconers, £5 15s to £6.; medium do., £5 2s to £5 10s. ^ Store pigs: Sows to farrow, £6; weaner pigs, 18s to 19s. Dairy cattle: Heifers, close to profit and calvei, £15 to £15 15s; cows close to profit, £16 to £17. Fat cattle: Prime heavy vealers. £9 2s 6d to £9 17s 6d; prime vealers' £8 17s 6d. to £9 2s 6d; medium do., ' £6 17s 6d to £8 2s 6d; lighter do., £4 7s 6d to £5 7s 6d; prime lightweight Hereford bullocks, £17 17s 6d to £18 17s 6d; prime heifers, £13 10s to £15 10s; prime cows, £12 '10s to ■ £14 7s 6d; good ex-dairy cows, £8 12s 6d to £9 17s 6d; medium do., £6 12s 6d to £7 17s 6d.
