Enjoyable Concert Staged By Girl Guides

On Wednesday evening last there was a very appreciative audience inv the Anglican Hall for the presentation of the First Otaki Girl Guide Company's concert. Arranged by Lieutenant P. Fogden, it had the whole-hearted support of the company. Following the singing o£ the National Anthem, the following programme was submitted: — Piano duet, Misses Marion Ross and Aileen Cole; play, "The New Housekeeper," Lynette Willis, Catherine Tooby, Bridget Gordon and Joan Edhouse; Irish jig, Nahleen Walton; song in costume, "I Don't Want to Paly in Your Yard," Joy Williams and Glenys Blyth; verse speaking and actions, by the recruits, trained by Miss Anne Mudge; sketch, "Lost Property," Miss P. Fogden and Melva Walsh; dance duo, Lynette and Isobel Willis; piano duet, Pixie WindxC-y and E'iaine Grice; folk dancing by eight girls, • trained by Julie Meagher; play, "Chronicles of Crimson Meadow," Aileen Coie, Shirley Smith, Julie Meagher, Valerie Boggs, Marion Ross, June Stephenson and Pixie- Windley; skipping dance, N. Walton; piano soio, E. Grice; comb duet, P. Fogden and A. Mudge. The company also rendered songs. During ihe evening the president of the local association, Mrs. C. A. Wilson, made an appeal for associate members, the fee being 2s 6d per year, to help the work of the company. She thanked those who had generously given and said that probably there were others who would like to help in this worthwhile work. At the conclusion shoulder sprays made by the guides were presented to Mrs. C. A. Wilson, Miss M. Bills, Captain B. Jarman, who also received one on beha.f of Lieutenant P. Purvis, who was unable to be present. Miss P. Fogden was presented with bunches of flowers in recofnition of the work she had put in to the concert. Special thanks and tributes were given to Mrs. F. 'Inglis, who so ably assisted in making the evening a success. A short dance followed the concert.
