Tasman Beach, Institute Holds Meeting

The monthly meeting of the Tasman Beach Institute- was held in the Anglican Beach Hall recently, when the president, Mrs. G. A. McConville, occupied the chair. There was a good attendance and a welcome was extended to all, especially to two new members, Mesdames C. Parrant and L. Gestro. An excellent account of business transacted at the recent council meeting at Paremata in April was furnished by the secretary. On behalf of the branch, Mrs. McConville offered congratulations to Mrs. J. Ross on her election to the federation executive. The financial report was submitted by the treasurer, members agreeing that it revealed a very satisfactory state of affairs. Mrs. W. Hotchen gave a very interesting demonstration on making flower baskets. It was thoroughly enjoyed and attentively followed by all present. The president thanked Mrs. Hotchen and presented her with a gift. Mrs. McConville presented two comedy rea'dings which were enjoyed by all, and Mrs. A. M. Hawkfns delighted those present wtih a recitation. Both were given bunches of violets. Mrs. P. Evans introduced a game which brought forth much laughter, Mrs. Ross being declared the winner. The president thanked all for helping to make the gathering so pleasant. Afternoon tea was served by the hoste'sses.
