Communist forces, after capturing Nanchang are now pushing westward aiong , the ChekiangKiangsi railway and have reached° points 100 miles east of Chuchow, a railway town at the junction of the Hankow-Canton and ChekiangKiangsi railway s in Central Hunan. Meanwhile, other Red fogrces are said to be pushing down the Han-kow-Canton railway to within 45 miles of Changsha. According to military sources in Canton, the Communists would meet no serious obstacles if they deeided to attack Changshu. As the civil war spreads ploser to South China,, the Canton municipal government has deeided to reduce its staff by 50 per cent., while refugees continue to make their way to Hong Kong and Macao. The Communist, General Chen Yi, took over administrative control of Shanghai today and announced that the supreme governmental organ would be the newlyestablished military control commission, says the United Press. The first act of the commission was to outlaw the Nationalist gold yuan currency. Legal tender nowis the jenminpiao notes of the People's Bank of China. Two trains left Shanghai on Friday for Nanking and one has arrived. Telephone communications with other Communist-held cities have been resumed. The Customs house is again operating.
