IMPROVEMENT SHOWN BY OTAKI THIRDS

The first "Jeg of the double" secured by Otaki teams came 'when the thirds improved to defe'at the visiting Hui Mai fifteen. A gran'd display was seen, ,with little respite for players from the opening whistle, and many movements drew encouraging applause. R. Ransfield onened the' scoring, securing a nice try for Hui Mai. This was followed soon after by one for Otaki, B. Tahiwi scoring after a pretty rearguard movement. Soon after the start of the second spell A. Cook scored again for Otaki. This change of luck saw the team in high g'ee, and they 'defended hard and successfully. Almost at full time a free kick was awarded to Hui Mai under the posts, but it went astray and Otaki won 6 — 3. •
