Thursday's Market Dull And Generally Slow

Messrs. Townsend and Paul Ltd., fruit and produce merchants, Wexlington, report that at the sale on ThurSday, 19, the market was particularly dull and omy choice varieties of fruit attracted any attention. However, the demand for Meyer lemons is still good, values realising up to-17s per half case. A consignrnent of New Zealand grape fruit, though lacking in co our, reaiised up to 20s per bushel. Mandarins in half bushel cases brought up to 24s 6d, all other fruits heing particularly slow to quit. Kumeras over the past week have been coming to hand - very freely and values are very much easier. Todays value for this line was 25s per cwt. The same ±ack of interest was shown in the- vegetabie sale. and only green peas, beans and brussel sprouts, showed any kind of attractive returns. All other lines were particularly slow. Heavy yardings of poultry have been offered, and va'ues here have remained firm. Consignments are sl-rongly recommended.
