Police Constable No Longer With Force

WELLINGTON, . May 19. "Following liis conviction in the Magistrate's Conrt, Wanganui, on April 7 on a eliarge of assault, Constable John Morris Pointon's services with the police force were terminated, " said the Commiasioner of Police, Mr. J. Cunimings, in response to an inquirv today, ""S 4e constable," he said, "appealed against the severity of the" sentenee imposed. That appeal would come before a tribunal set up by the Minister in eliarge of the department. The tribunal would comprise a Magistrate as chairman and two members, one of thera a member of tlie Police Association and the other a police oflieer. The appeal might be lieard during the coming weelc.
