Serious Charge Follows Youth's Death
HAMILTON, May 16. Charged With being found in a state of intoxication in charge of a Car in Frankton on Saturday, and also charged that while in a state of intoxication he was in charge of a car at Horotiu and by an act or omission in relation thereto he caused the death of Cameron William Harte, Leo William Attwood Meagher,- aged 38, tunneller and rniner, of Mangakino, appeared before Messrs. M. M. Shaw and E. A. Butt, J.P.'S, in the Hamilton Police Couft tOday. Mr. N. I. Sniith appeared for Meagher. Senior Sergeant R. J. Sutherland asked for a remand until Thursday. He said that there would be further charges. The remand was granted. The charge followed the afrest of Meagher on Saturday night after a car answering to the descriptioil of the one he was driving knockpd Cameron William Harte, ap'ed. 15 years, from his bicycle on Great South Road at 7.40 p.m. on Saturday. Harte and another youth, Bruce McPherson, -were cVcling to Hamilton when the car overtook them and struck .Harte but did not stop. McPherson supplied a description of the car to the police.
