New Books For Library
Upon his return from Wellington shortly after the completion 'of business at the Shannon Borough Council's fortnightly meeting on Tuesday evening, the Mayor, Mr. D. A. Fitzgerald, told' members that, together with the Mayoress and the librarian, Miss R. Sayer, a visit had been made to a city business1 firm .and a number of books for the library purchased. The Mayor said he was sure that the council would be very pleased with the books when they came to hand. He had also made arrangements for a supply of further books. The Mayor went on to, inform the council that the National Library Service would be forwarding a further 100 books to add to the library shelves. The courfcil extended thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Fitzgerald and Miss Sayer, and also to Cr. C. M. Cron- ■ quest and Mr. W. Moynihan, who had made a previous visit to Wellington, for their efforts to improve the library. Thanks we-re also extended to Mesdames C. Tremewan and J. T. Bovis'for assisting at the library during the absence of the librarian.
