Proposal to Amalgamate Two Racing Clubs
GISBORNE, May 13. The Tolaga Bay Jockey (Jlub lxas de-, cided to propose amalgamation with the Poverty Bay Turf Glub on the following basis. — (1) The Racing Conference to allot the Tolaga Bay permi't to -the Poverty Bay Turf Glub; (ij that the 57 linancial members of the Tolaga Bay Club be made finaneial ineiu bers of the Poverty Bay Glub for the current finaneial year; (3) that from the accumulated fuuds of the Tolaga Bay Glub of £2000, the sum of £500 be paid to the Poverty Bay Turf Glub, the balau.ee to be held in the ineantime. It was pointed out that the elub no longer had the rights over the course formerly used because the pro perty had been fe-possessed by tlnEast Coast Gommissioner who made an ex gratia payment for improveuieut. The Waiapu Eaeing Glub, on receipt of unofficial advice that the club was unlikely to get a permit to hohi meetings away from its own eourse de cided (1) not to wind up activities linai ' ly but to diseontinue racing in trio meantine; (2) the club should noi amalgamate or merge with the Po vei;r.> Bay Turf Club; (3j the fuuds be lieci in trust, loans to be made to Ruatoria sports bodies for up to live years at low interest rates.
