AUCKLAND, May 12. A carpenter, Heatb Ernest Inwood, aged 36, was deseribed by counsel as a junior partner in a forgery ring, when he aiipeared for sentence on a cliarge of attempting to utter for^'ed totalisator tickets at tbe 'Franklin Racing (,'lub's meeting at Pukekohe on March 5. Ilis Honour said it seemed that someone in the totalisator had obtained ticket paper wbile a second man had eleverly forged tickets whieb prisoner had attempted to cash. It was a very clever t'raud and was calculated to disrupt tbo operations of the totalisator. Forgery and uttering were serious crimes and they were particularly serious when tbey affected public eonfidenee in this wav. He senteneed prisoner to two years ' ref ormative detention.
