.AUCKLAND, May 11. A disabled launeh with three oceupants is drifting helplessly on stormy Lake Taupo as the result of fieree southerly gales whieh swept the North Esland today. Aircraft will cooperate with Taupo 's largest reseue launch at dawn tomorrow morning in an attempt to' locate the missing Taupo boat whieh was last seen at 5 o'clock this evening about five miles 'off the northern shore. Snow and floods were part of the bitter winter weather whieh today followed three days of heavy rain. There was damage to roads in the Rotorua district. Snow fell deeply across the eentral plateau of the North Island and several Bay of Plenty farmers suffered serious stock losses when the Kaituna River overflowed on to their properties.
