Five Clubs To Compete In District Miniature Rifle Competitions

• The inter-club competitio. .... ..... msored by the Horowhenua Miniature Rifie Association are to start next week and early jindications are that they will be keenly contested. A neweomer tms year is the Otaki Club, which will compete against last season's entrants, Poroutawhao, Levin, Shannon and Ohau. This season clubs will have less time to arrange their matches, ten days being allowed for each series i'nstead of the usual 14. Another new feature is that shooting for the Bebbington Shield will be controlled by the association, whereas in the past it has been under club arrangement.

With the exception of the Shannon ciub, which is making a later start than its associates, clubs of the dfstrict have now entered on their compe.ition shooting. Ear.ier practices have brought results and the scores generally are reflecting a high standard. Altoge.her thu stage is set for a very successfm season.
