National Party Clerk Before Court
' HASTINGS, May 11. Failure to account for £280 6s 6cl after receiving that sum on terms requiring him to pay or account for it to the Palmerston North branch of tlie New Zealand National Party was a charge preferrod against Cleve Edmuna Allen, aged 33 years, a clerk, of Palmerston North, in the Police Court at Hastings this morning. IFeported from Palmerston North a few \yeeks ago as missing, Allen was taken into custody in Hastings yesterday afternoon. „ It is alleged that the offence was
eommitted between January 1 and March 31 of this year at Palmerston North. On the application of the police the accused was retnanded to appear m Palmerston North next Wednesday.
