Accident Claim Brings £1022 Damages
A claim for £2055 damages brouglit by George Henry Prancis, farmer, of Longburn, against George Dudley Coi lier, contractpr, of Levin, "arising out oi an aecident which occurred on July o last at Levin when plaintiff was 'knocked down by defendant's car, was heard in the Supreme Court at Palmerston North yesterday before Mr Justice Hutchinson. After a retirement of half-an-hour the jury found negligence ou the part of both parties and damages amounting to £1022 were awurded plaintiff. Plaintiffi alleged negligence on the part of defendant in failing to keep a proper lookout) have his car adequately lighted, driving at excessive speed and failing to stop or steer clear. He claimed that as the result of the accident he received injuries which neeessitated hospital and modical treatment. Defendant denied negligence on hi.part and alleged plaintiff had been negligent in failing to keep a proper lookout while crossing the street, failing to cross at right angles, failing to see that the road was clear and failing to stop and let defendant's car pass.
