They carved holes through he Australian defenee in a fashiox which suggested that the visitors hat iittle knowledge about wet weathe> play. In the seeond spell, however Australia were aroused. The tall for ward, Taylor, erashed over for a try and the centre, Solomon, scored twice once almost .on the deadball line aftei a long sprint. A conversion and penalty by Wileman brQught the Austral f ians to 14 points. Leading 15 — 14 after a penalty by Roberts, the combined forwards tried to earry the game beyond question nearing time but were me-t by a few cbuntermoves by the Australians. Determined though eccentrie short-passing efforts ended with Taylor again makino a bulldozer dive for a try.
