Personal. Mrs. Martin, of Vance Street, has returned home after spending a few days in Wellington. Mrs. T. Roach, of Nathan Terrace, returned home last evening after spending a holiday with her parents at Carterton. Miss Jensen, who has been spending a holiday with her parents at Ballance Street, returned to Auckland yesterday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Cave, Senr., of Kingston Road, returned home yesterday afternoon after attending a school jubilee in the Carterton district. Mr. Allan Burke, of Patea, suffered an injury to his hand recently and is at present home on sick leave with Mr. and Mrs. Henshaw, Pretoria Road. Miss F. Burke, of the nursing staff of the Wellington Public Hospital, and Miss C. Burke, of Wellington, were the weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. B. Henshaw, Pretoria Road. Mr. J. Calder, the former Opiki school headmaster, left this morning on the first stage of his trip to Stewart Island. He expects to spend a week or so in the South Island before crossing to his new home. Flood Weather Prevailing. The steady rain which has fallen almost continuously since Sunday night is looked upon by farmers in the Moutoa and Buckley areas as flood weather. Although no river reports were issued by the Manawatu Catchment Board up to 8 a.m. this morning, the Manawau River stood at five feet at Fitzherbert Bri'dge at that time. However, with the Rangitikei River at flood level, there is possibility of a steady rise ,in the Manawatu today. Accommodation Wanted. The influx of visitors to Shannon over the King's Birthday weekend for the school and football club jubilees is causing some concern.to both .jubilee committees. Speaking yesterday, Mr. J. T. Bovis, one of the joint secr*taries of the School » Jubilee Committee, said that although many people would haye , friends' staying with them over^ithe jubilee weekend, there were others who would be prepared to board one or two visitors if the opportunity permitted. He asked that if any resident, whether in the town or country, could' board Visitors, would they please contact him and arrangements would be made. Mr. Bovis mentioned that over 20 people required board over the, jubilee period.
