Oil Prospects Good In West Australia

Received Monday, 7.30 p.m. SYDNEY, May 9. " s It was a ''good bet" that oil would be found at Rough Range and Capo Range near -Exmouth Gulf, West Australia, said a leading American oil geologist, Mr. E. K. Craig, who has reaehed Sydney after making a six months' survey over an area of 1000 square miles. He added that large potential oilfieids which he had just examined, would have been drilled 20 years ago if they had been in California. The geological structure of the two large areas was siinilar to those of proven oilfieids in California. "If there is any Oil in Australia it will be there," he declared confidently. "It is a good bet' for a company with plenty of money. I don't want to give the impxession that it would be a good investment for a race track bettor with his £100."
