CHRISTCHURCH, May 9. Opposition to the registration of the new Auckland Carpenters' Union was expressed unanimously at a meeting of the North Canterbury Labour Representation Committee. Mr. J. Mathison, M.P., addressed the committee and appealed for support of the Government'a aetion in deregistering the old Aucktand Carpenters ' Union and its proposal to register the new union. Mr. Mathieon attended the meeting as a member of Parliament' and had no vote. Yesterday's meeting of the Drivers* Union which expressed support for the Minister of Labour, Mr. McLagan, in his handling of the carpenters' disputa was attended by 40 members and was •called by notices issued on Friday. The quarterly meeting • of the union heard • the carpenters ' case put by the national president of the union, Mr. F. L. Langley, but the drivers decided to def er expressing any opinion by vote until Mr. MeLagan had been heard. "
