Shannon and Hui Mai seniors were evenly ma'tched when they met at Manakau, and a fairly dour struggle ensued, which Shannon !, won by six points to three. Shani» non won their share of the scrums, their forwards doing a good share of the work on this occasion, although Moynihan, the centre, crossed Hui Mai's line for the only
try of the match. Hui Mai were valiant in defensive play. For the home side . M. Staples kicked a nice penalty goal, whiie for Shannon Mortimer, the fullback, provided a highlight by dropping a brilliant field goal from at least 35 yards out.
