Thankful Recipients Of By-Election Wager
"Let us hope there will be a lot nore citizens who will want to vigue thing's out to our benefit," 5aid 'the president of the Levin iihtary Band, Mr. H. A. Robertson, vhen he referred to a donation of 5 from Mr, A. W. Parton, received W the band through the editor of "The Chronicle," Levin. The donation, which he1 explained :epresented the proceeds oi a wager etween two borough council canlidates and settled as the result of i debate, was very welcome. He, vould pubicly thank Mr. Parton md also Mr. R. S. Antcliff, the ither contestant and instigator of ihe debate, for making the band the beneficiary. During the meeting a motion was lAso passed thanking all those who had catered for the band during !ts Christmas carolling cafis, and also all those others who had helped the band since i .s formation and during the past year.
