Personal. Mrs. E. W. Smith, of Tasman Beach, left today on a fortnight's holi'day visit to Auckland. Friends of Mrs. J. G. Goodyer, of Toi Street, will regret that she is again confined to her bed, and is seriously ill. Mr. Peter. Royal, after spending his leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Royal, of Te Rauparaha Street, left today to rejoin the Bellona at Auckland. He was aceompanied by lan, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Smith. Miss K. Keddell, of the Otaki State School staff, has tendered her resignation and is retiring from teaching after many years of ser'vice. Teachers, parents vand the School Committee are to meet at the school at 2.15 p.m. tomorrow, Thursday ,to bid farewell to Miss Keddell. Vital Statistics. For the month of April vital statistics notified to the Otaki registrar, Mr. C. G. Anderson, are as follows: — Births 14; including four Maori, deaths one, marriages two. Card Evening. Card evenings at the Anglican Beach Hall were resumed on Monday night, and the promoters were favoured with a good atlendance. Winners were Mesdames R. Bills, O. D'Ath, L. C. Hull and N. Flyger, and Messrs O. B. Nilssoh and A. Freeman. Memorial Site Inspected. The sub-committee appointed by the Otaki Borough Council was busily engaged on Saturday morning last inspecting the site of the proposed War Memorial and sports area adjacent to the Otaki Courthouse. It is reported that tentative p'.ans are being prepared, to go forward with a subsidy application.
