Britain Not Going To Raise Incomes

Received Tuesday, 7 p.m. LONDON, May 3. The G-overnment's policy on personal incomes and prices remains as stated in the White Paper of February, 1948, Mr. Attlee told the Commons yesterday. There should he no general increase in the level oi personal incomes whether from profits or eamings, without a corresponding rise in the volume of production. Prices should he reduced wherever possible. "The improvement in our state oi affairs last year was largely due to the response on all sides to the plea for restraint," said Mr. Attlee. The need for that restraint -was as great today as it was a year ago, he added. '
