New Floor For Hall: New Gym For Sports?
That -the Regent Hall required a 1 new floor was the opinion of Cr. R. A. Frederikson when he spoke j at last night's meeting of the Levin j Borough Council on the proposed ) impfovements and alterations to 1 the hall. He said that in addition 1 to being too hard, the existing floor ' was dangerous to dancers because 1 of large spms and holes in it. Underneath the floor there was j some four inches of dust and con-^ fetti, This Came through during i Sports, nights and dancing,' and it wou d spbil the new paintwork, conanued ' Cr. Frederikson. HC Cbnsidered that it "would be necessary 'to pUt down a complete neW floor. . It would have to be done some time and the old flooring could be laid in what.would be the Supper room. The damage to the floor was mainly due to some of t^e sports bodies fastening down'equipment. . ? The .Mayor* 8M¥r^»»H.^urdekih^ said that Levin wou'd also have to look towards the provision of a sports gymnasium. It was an essen ia1 in anv town. Cr. Frederikson's suggestion was supported by Cr/ B. J' Sweetzer, and will go • fo.rward to the corb:mittee concemed for consideration and a report." ' 1 ' The questi'bn was raised after-Cr. Sweetzer^ had presented his recoihmendatiohs regarding the painting and interior decoration of the hani.
