WELLINGTON, April 29. Visits have been paid by~a detective to two national trade union secretanes whose union journals recently published certain artieles about the Court of Arbitration and the Railways Tribunal. Mr. T. Hill, seeretary of the New Zealand Waterside Workers' Union, coniirmed a report that a deteptive eaiied on him tiiis week to ask questions about an article in the latest issue ot the New Zealand Transport Worker, the journal of the Waterside Workers' [huon. -The article dealt with the wage' case recently before the Court. " As it happened," said Mr. Hill, " our president (Mr R. Barnes) and the president of the Gisborne branch (Mr. Lindlev) were both present during the detective 's visit. The detective was [ very courteous." Mr. Hill said he understood the detective had also visited the printer of the "Transport Worker" who 'is the printer of the official weekly newspaper of the Labour Party. The general seeretary of the Railway ' Tradesmen's Association (Mr. R. £. 1 Gobbie) was a'lso visited by a detecI tive. The visit followed the publication in the association 's journal of a crilicism of the decision of the Railways Industrial Tribunal on railway wage rates. Mr. Gebbie said tonight that he had no coinment to make to the press.
