WELLINGTON, April 29. Tlie first New Zealand bank officers award was iss'ued by 'the Court of Arln tration today. The award grants bank officers minimum salary scales datm.; t'roni Deeember 3, 1918, rising to £5(>0 per aimuin after 19 years' serviee. Trn.j ligure is increased to £580 per annuni as from June 1 when the Court 's recent wage pronouncement will take elfec'.. The Court ht£s refused to include any einplovee earning more tlian £(550 per a nn u in in the award. The president of the Court was asked to provide for certain senior and exe cutive officers, but the evidence susjmitted was quite inadequate to enablu the Court to determine mininiuni salaries of such officers even if it had beeu satisiied that theya should be covered by any award. ''The Workers ' Union | iu its clainis asked that the Court should niake provision for the setting up of an appeal board. The Court is not satisiied that it has any jurisdiction to grant such a claim. In determining on the rates of wages the Court has fixed two schedules, one to operate from Deeember 3, 191S, and the other from June 1, 1919 The latter schedule is designed to give effeet to the Court 's pronouncement of April 12." The niinimum salaries payable as from Deeember 3, 1918, together witli those to become eifective from June 1 in parentheses, are as follows: — First year, £155 (£1(50); second year £180 (£185); third year, £212 (£220); fonrth year, £212 (£250); Jifth ye'ir, £275 (£285); sixth year, £310 (£325); seventh year, £310 (£3(50); eighth year, £3155 (£385); uinth year, £390 (£110); tenth year, £115 (£135); eleventh year. £lli) (£1(50); twelftli year, £150 i£47)i; Lhirteenth year, £170 (£190); fourteen*') vear, £19U (£510); (ifteeuLh year, £5()5 (£525); sixteenth year, £530 (£559,; seventeentli year, £515 (£505;; eighteenth year and thereafter, £5(50 t£580).
