Levin Municipal Band To Give Broadcast
The Levin Municipal Band has been invited to give a broadcast from station 2ZA Palmerston North on Sunday, September 10, at 9.30 a.m. in the bandsmen's session. The station manager, Mr. K. W. Donaldson, accompanied by the announcer, Mr.' D. Smith, attended the Anzac evening concert on Monday night with a view to hearing the band. Giving his personal opinion of ils' accomplishments, Mr, Donaldson said that for a C grade band its rendition of marches was ,quite good. He was, however, not iquite as enthusiastic over the hymns and did not consider that the selection "Rendezvous" had been at all well p'iayed. That the station "Vas on the lookout for talent was obvious, for a quartette of yong Maori children was also invited to give a broacast at a future date. They are children of Mr. and Mrs. T. Murray, Margaret, George, Selwyn and Marie, aged 10, 11, 12 and 13 years respectively. These children rendered some delightful vocal and in- = strumental selections during the evening.
