RAHUI FOURTHS TOO STRONG FOR FOXTON
Scoring was lively in the match between Foxton and Rahui fourths at Otaki and both teams were ,eveniy matched, with .lifcxion.ijring a little in the second half after catching up valuab e leeway lost early in the game. Rahui won 22 —17. W. Wilton opened the scoring for Rahui, A. Morgan converting. T. .'Waldrom added another cry soon after. Foxton soon retaliated a.nd, following a nice run by Harry Shaw, Gordon Williams crossed for Ken Bawson to convert. Rahui 8, Foxton 5. Chevis, at half, was :making a good showing for Rahui j ^'i ^-ng opss to D. Smith saw the latter, after beating off severai I p ayers, dive over for a grand try. Shortly after Waldrom scored again ; to make the score 14 — 5. A penalty jkick by Dawson added three points and spurred Foxton for G. Williams to again score. Next score for Foxton came from a try by Ken Brotherson and it equalised the points. Des. Smith made a nice grubber kick to centre, which Ian Mudge picked up and dived over. Rahui 17, Foxton 14. Both sides were striving hard and, following a penalty kick, D. Smith punted to the centre of the field, raced up and gathered in the ball to dive over
again. Morgan added the extras. Foxton retaliated once again and! af-er a rush S. Hart'ey scored. Thei game ended with the score Rahui I 22, Foxton 17. Mr. R. Whelan, a new recruit to, the referees' ranks, carried the; whistle.
