Demolition Order On Old Building Waived
Stating that the firm had entered into a contract to purchase 'hree sections in the pit in Oxford Street, Mr. E. F. E. Taylor, of the Belmont Furnishing Coy., wrote to the -Levin Borough Council at a mee'tmg this y/eek, requesting that it waive the demolition order imposed by the council on a building on one of the sections. The firm stated Chat if the council agreed to this, it would be prepared to carry out repairs and renovations to the satisfaction of the council. / The building would be used by the firln for show purposes only. It was stated by the Building Controller that the firm intended to make alterations of an extensive n'ature and the finished structufe would undergo borer treatment. The council decided that approval be given and the demolition order be waived, with the proviso that detailed plans and specificalions of the proposed a^erations be drawn up and produced, that all the work was to the satisfaction of the health and building inspectors and that an undercaking be given chat at no time would the prermses be Used as a habitation. In its letter to the council, the firm stated that' the building would be replaced as soon as a permit ivas available with a new building over the three seciions.
