Mr. Antcliff Challenges Mr. Parton
R. S.
ANTCLIFF.
— ^ Sir, — It Would appear that Mr.. Parton and. Iqre at variance over the me '. ho$ adopted by the . Levin Borough Ouncil for the development oi Playford Park. While at one meeting last night ' I described the handling of the Playford Park project as "masterful," Mr. Parton, . at another, voiced his disapproval of the metho'd used. I f eei it would bc interesting to have both opinions expressed fr.-m the one platform, and hereby issue a challenge to Mr. Parton to pubhcly debate with me in Wi .liams' .reception room, which I have tentativeiy booked for the purpose, the following subject: "That Playford Park is being developed aiong sound financial lines," the debate to take place on the evening of Tuesday, April 28. . I wou'd take the affirmative and vomd •: -ept the adjudication of the audience, provided at least 50 people were present. I am not rea:ly a gambling man, but I think the occasion warrants a smal wager. I am ^repared to donate £5 to the Levin Mili ary Band if the adju'aicatois' vote is against me. Yours. etc..
Levin, April 20. '•
