"When it is remembered that a number of children are not allowed. in the baths hecause of health reasons, and a swimmer is one who. can swim across the baths, it will be seen that good progress has been made,"- said Mr. Burtt. The1 following certificates have been awarded:-— Twenty-five to 50 yards, 27 certificates; 50 to 220 yards, 26 certificates; 220 to*880 yards, four certificates; 880 yards, two certificates. It was pointed out that the swim-, ming competition arranged between the Levin and Shannon Schools had to he cancelled because of the sudden change of weather. While dealing with -sport, ' Mr. Burtt advised that cricket and longball teams from the ; local school had visited Levin and competed against that school.
