Plane-launched and Guided Missiles

NEW YORK, April 14. Plane-launched and guided missiles had reached such a stage of development that they could be used to intrecept a bomhing raid on any American city, General Joseph McNarney said tonight. - ' Having, ' ' he said, "electronically detected the approach of enemy formatiorw the Air Force would first dispateh high-speed interceptors. Inscead of carrying the conventional guns these aircraft would carry missiles which could he launched under their own. rocket "power at supersonic speeds, tp a target several miles away. "By means-of radar homing devices witnin the missiles they would track down the enemy even in evasive action, and by means of proximicy fuses they would he detonated when within lethal range*of the enemy."
