Maori Adzes Found At Cashwell Sound
DUNEDIN, April 13. Three Maori adzes have been found by members of the New Zealand iiord land expedition in the area behind Caswell Sound, says a report received from the Daily Times staff reporter with the expedition. The discoverv js regarded as important. The adzes were found by Mr. J. Holloway. All were of greenstone, one bemg ten inehc^ long arid the other two of four and liv inches. So far as members of tlu1 expedition know, this is the lirst tinie Alaori artifacts have been found in the Caswell Sound area. Twelve days of heavy rain in the area ended on Tuesdav and at one time the Stillwater base camp was threatened by flood when the river ro.-e swiftlv but it fell as quickly.
