Both teams were evenly mate-hed and, despite the fact that a minimum of training had been carried out by the teams, the game proved fast and spectacu'ar. With dittle time to gi ;i wel judged kick by a Napier back suv the ball cross the Levin line, but a chance to clear was spoiit by a knock-on.( From he reruiiting scrum the Napier half gahnd nossession and a well-executed blind side movement saw tlieir direequarter cross at the conier. Tlir kick at goal fai^d. The pace1 was still on during the last few minutes but despite dstermined efforts by bo'h teams there was no further score. The margin of five pcints -'ii 1'avour of the Levin team was s true indication of the run of play.
