Both teams were evenly mate-hed and, despite the fact that a minimum of training had been carried out by the teams, the game proved fast and spectacu'ar. The ball was 'ihrown about in the usual open styie seen in college football and a minimum of kicking by both sets of backs was a ieature. The first half was evenly contested, resulting in no score at lia'f time. The Levin team played more construc ive footbad in the sscona half and. with a better understanding in the backs and exellent backing up by the forwards. diey opened their account with a nice '.ry by Clapcott, Dorne converting. As the game progressed the Napier boys began to settle down and gave the Levin team some anxious moments. However. a misfield by one of the opposing backs saw Salmons following up fast and, with the ball at his toes, he crossed Ihe ine for a well-earnsd try. The" kick at goal failed.
