INVERCARGILL, April 10. Strong support for the attitude taken fjy the Mimeter of Labour in the Auckland .carpenters' dispute, wqu given at a meeting of the Southland Trades Couneil on Saturday night. It was decided to send the foilowing resolution "to Mr. McLagan by telegram: — "That members of the council solidly support the Minister in the aetion he has taken to suppress the activities of certain trade linion leadprs in thp northern eentres, whose sole object appears to be to create industrial unrest 'in an eifort to bring aljout the defeat of the workers' jqoyernment. " From one end of New Zealand to,the other there were people who nevei; inissed an opportunity to belittle th.e T_,abour Goyprnment, said the actingsecretary, Mr. D. Harris, speaking in support of the resolution. He said he thpught it wgs about time some qf those who snpported the Government 4jd sqmething about it. The worker§ qf tlie Dominion were neye- better oflr than they were today. Tnere was g deliberate move afo.ot to defeat thp Labonr Government and the Commun.- ' ist Party was behind it, said Mr. Harris.
