Annual Meeting Of Anglican Guild

The annual general meeting of the Ven. Bede's Anglican Church Ladies' Guild was held in the Parish Hall . on Wednesday afternoon, when the retiring president, Mrs. W. Tricker, presided over. a good attendanee of members. The meeting opened with prayer by th'e vicar,'the Rev. M. J. S. Wheeler. Mrs. Tricker then reported on the activities of the guild over the past year and said that the year had been a successful one. She then called upon the treasurer, Mrs. E. L. Hyde, to present the financial statement which showed the guild to be in quite a sound position, the credit balance for the year being £98. v At this stage of the meeting, Mrs. Tricker vacated the chair, and the vicar took control and called for nominations for the various oflices for the comlng year. Mrs. Tricker did not stand for re-election to the position of president. The following officers were . elected: — President, Mrs. R. J. Lester; vice-presi-.dent; Mrs. G. W. Munford; secretary, Mrs. Fitzsimmons; treasurer, Mrs. E. L. Hyde. Before vacating the chair to Mrs. Lester, the vicar made special mention of the splendid work done in the interests of the guild by the past secretary, Mrs. Parr, who had been forced to retire from the 'position on account of ill health^ Seve^ ral members also spoke on similar lines. Appreciation of Mrs. Parr's services was placed on record. Following a discussion, it was unanimously deeided that the motion on the minutes making the anannual membership charge 2/6 be rescinded and a charge of 1/- per meeting be made. It was agreed that the usual dance be held on Easter Monday again this year, and a social committee was set up to make arrangements for this function as well as take charge of all social activities of the guild for the year. The hostesses for the next meeting will be Mesdames Cronquest and Allerby. The meeting was broiight to a close with prayer by the vicar, after .which a. delightful afternoon tea, was served by Mesdames Wright and Jones.
