How Big An Atom Is
Received Friday, 7 p.m. TORGiNTO, April 7. It Would be another 25 years befote practieal applications would be made of a$omic research, Professor Marcus Oliphant, leading atomic physicist, said today. He gave as reason, the fact that applied science generally lagged a quarter of a century behind pnre science. Professor Oliphant said "Scientists are no smarter than anyone else. Their mumojumbo just conceals ignorance." Recommending they should 'express themselves in simple language, Professor Oliphant said: "The atom is a relatively big thing abont one-hundredth of a millionth of an ineh. The The nnclens is abont ten thousand times smaller than the atom."
