Mexico-Guatemalan Border Dust-Up
Received Fridav, 9.30 p.m. MEXICO CTTY, April 7. Armed rebels from Mexico attacked the Guatemalan towns of Ayutla and Nalacatan and robbed the customs houso at E1 Garmen on the Guatemale Mexico border, the Guatemalan Em bassy reported today. The Guatemalai Governnient announced that it had rushed Armv and Air Force units t' the Mexican border to suppress a sub versive group. The Guatemalan For eign Minister, Senor Meany, said to niglit that the entire area was fcov cairn. Mexico and Guatemala had taken joint aetion to close the border to pro vent more " revolutionaries" entering the eountrv and to stop the rebels escaping. He said the rebels had ' ' Fascist ' ' leanings. Guatemalan revolutionarv sources Te ported that a well armed force of 1000 men, supported by fighters and bomtv ers, had invaded Guatemala after one year's preparation. The revolt War headed by Dr. Gustavo Trangay and Colonel Luis Ferandez YartineZ who were reported to have appealed to Guatemalana to joint the ' ' anti-Cohr munist" revolution. Government reports say the rebels numbered about 200. '
