Manufacturers Can Assist Farmers
WELLINGTON, April 8. "We are not making this a mfere book entry," said the president of the New Zealand Manufacturers' Fe'deration, Mr. S. Howard' Hunter, when the council oi that organfsation, at a rebent meeting, resoived to explore ways in "which manu^ facturers could assist thfe farmers of the Dominion, states a supplie'd reparte. Mr. D. V. Wilson, the vice-presi-den:, said that issues on which manufacturers ana farmers' organisations cou d e-ff ec'cively cooperate included immigration and rural housing. The seeretary, Mr. D. I. MacDonald, said that succeSsfUl manufacturing in New Zealand denended in the long run on the success of farming industries. There were many material problems of overall na'Lional interest? that coUld be examined. Mr. Hunter, in endorsing the desirability of promoting Cioser relations between the two bodies, said that the farmers have given the employers great support during the recent industrial trouble in Auckland. The council unanimously decided that the seeretary, Mr. MacDonald, should confer with thr seeretary of the Federated Farmers to discuss methods by which botb organisations could mutually cooperate on problems of major- importance to, their two indUsiries.
