School Committee Holds Brief Meeting
The committee of the Otaki State School met on Tuesday night, when .'a small agenda was dealt with. Mr. II. Taylor presided and there were also present Messrs H. B. Edhou?e, L. G. Gimblett (secretary) , A. G. •Kirkwood, C. Parrant and W. Wilson. Apologies were tendered on behaTf of Messrs W. Calwell, A. Lumley and N. Taylor. The number at present on the roll was reported to be 419. Frequenit visits are being made to the school by the district nurse, with the general health of the children remaining very good. Three new sewing machines have been installed, and good progress is being made with the erecttion of three additional classrooms. It is hoped that furniture manufacturers will respond to the advertisement calling for furniture for these welcome additions. Following discussions on these matters, the secretary is to 4write to the Education Board asking for information in regard to the coiujse of subjects available for post graduate courses, while the school committees of Te Horo, Waikanae, Paraparaumu and Manakau are to be asked to support a movement to establish a secondary school in Otaki.
